Bowen
I had knee pain from an old injury, the pain had gotten so bad I could no longer teach my aerobic classes, I had one session of Bowen & I was amazed I walked out & had no pain. - LC, Paramus, NJ
I fractured my tailbone snowboarding, and suffered pain for 2 years. PT didn’t help at all. Chiropractic helped some, very slowly, and painfully. After 2 relaxing, painless Bowen sessions, the pain vanished. In the next 3 years it came back slightly on occasion, and vanished again after 1 tune-up session! - MK, Haworth, NJ

Aromatherapy
I’ve been suffering from severe environmental allergies and asthma for almost 30 years. I never had any choice except to rely on constant Antihistamines/Decongestants and shots to keep system calm. When Barbara Finlayson first introduced me to Aromatherapy and the oils around ‘99/2000, she focused on various methods using those specific oils for respiratory/pulmonary conditions. From the start my overall physical condition gradually began to improve. My allergies weren’t attacking as badly or as often and my breathing was at a calmer level.
YLEOils
Let me preface this with the fact that I am first and foremost skeptical of the promises of most “alternative” medicines. I have never been able to understand why not just take an aspirin for a headache-why search for a more “natural” cure which may or may not cure the headache. That said, I’m sure you can understand that when Barbara, who I primarily know though my significant other, N J, would tell me cure all stories, I took them all with a grain of salt. Well, if necessity is the mother of invention, desperation is the mother of belief. In June of 2001, my house burnt to the ground with my three dogs inside. Miraculously, the firemen were able to pull all three out. They were suffering terribly from smoke inhalation as well as burns to their lungs, throat and noses. Veterinarians told me that I just had to wait and see what was going to happen. Barbara showed up the next day with the suggestion that we diffuse some essential oils and see what would happen. Having nothing to lose, we tried it. My seven year old male who had taken the brunt of the smoke seemed finally able to stop coughing and get some sleep. I was hopeful, but not thoroughly convinced until one day when the diffuser wasn’t running and he came and asked me to turn it on. I believe dogs, like children, know what is good for them and accept it. He is, today 13 years old and every year I have the vet check for permanent lung damage and they can’t hear anything-despite at the time being told the damage would be permanent and eventually would probably kill him.
In August of 2006, my bitch Thena, then 10 years old, came down with a terrible case of aspiration pneumonia. We later learned that she had laryngeal paralysis and would be prone to this nightmare for as long as she lived. She was hospitalized twice that summer and was living on antibiotics. She would run incredibly high fevers (107) and was basically sick enough that most dogs would have just died. After 2 hospitalizations, I promised her I would not leave her in the hospital again. This was a promise I was to break, but always for her. One November morning, while we were waiting for yet more testing to be done, she became desperately ill again. I wrapped her in ice and sat on the floor with her. N.J. called Barbara and together we came up with a plan. Getting the oils into a sick dog required an enema of oils mixed with coconut oil. We mixed this up, gave it to her and waited. First she fell asleep. My feeling was that she would either wake up feeling better or she would not wake up at all. After about 30-45 minutes she woke up and ate. We always could tell when Thena was sick because she wouldn’t eat. At this point her fever had broken and she was eating. When I took her to the vet the next week, her lungs were still full, she still needed antibiotics, but clinically she was 100% better. Over the course of the next year, we used this enema many times and it always made her feel better. She eventually succumbed to the pneumonia, but I truly believe the oils enemas gave her a year more than we had reason to hope for and she got to enjoy her summer last year. For this I will always be grateful. Once again, she showed me that dogs know what helps them. While she would try to run from the thermometer, the little enema bulb would come out and she would stand totally still, even wag her tail, knowing it would make her feel better.
When my young bitch had a litter of puppies 2 years ago, she had some trouble producing milk. We researched in the oils book and prepared an oil mixture which I applied to her nipples and almost immediately, she began producing enough milk to keep everyone happy.
Our reference for all of these events was Barbara Finlayson. When she didn’t know-primarily because these were dog and not human issues-she was always willing and able to find the information for us. I truly believe any organization dealing with health issues would be lucky to have her as a resource. I believe people in crisis, whether from age, injury or disease would, like my dogs, look for and crave the things that make them feel better. I think Barbara would be able to provide for your clients, a new level of care, one not provided by conventional medicine. I hope that I have given you some insight into a way to add to, not replace, the care you provide at this time. I can not stress enough how much Barbara could add to your care. Please feel free to contact me if I can be of any further help or if you would like any further information.
Very truly yours, - J.H., Warwick, NY
I can now say that I truly believe that my condition today is due to what I now call “my oils”.
As to the skills of Barbara Finlayson, between the knowledge of her craft and that special calming effect about her, the whole experience is that much more worthwhile.
